Akihiko is one of the more idealistic members of [[Chiba|Chiba's]] gang, believing that this is the best way he can contribute to the clan's survival instead of focusing on self-promotion. He is relatively noble and good compared to the rest of the gang, and one of the ones to argue restraint for mercy's sake. This puts him at direct odds with [[Hideyo]] and makes him distasteful to the ambitious Chiba, but gets him sympathy from [[Joji]]. While Akihiko is bullied for his more pacifistic approach to what they are doing, he is a useful fighter and the whole gang recognizes his talents and value. Akihiko is especially prone to saving the younger boys, being protective of them in his own way. He also is the only member of Chiba's gang to wear a significant amount of armor.
