Joji is a young, male Syg who is a member of Chiba's gang. As one of the older boys in the gang and as the group's joker, he tries to keep the younger boys' spirits up. Secretly he is very sad and afraid, but he never lets the others in the gang see for fear they will reject him. He is beloved by the younger boys, who call him Joji-senpai, but they do not respect him the way that they respect Chiba. He and Hayato know about each other's secrets and weaknesses and keep each other's confidences but are not very friendly with each other and have very different perspectives on what the gang means to them.

In combat, Joji is somewhat clumsy and tends to take a more defensive or support position, which often earns him Chiba's scorn. Despite this, he has a useful place in the gang as a support and he defends the younger boys when they are being pressured by their opponents. He will often try to bluff and pretend to be more powerful than he is, which sometimes works.
